Bredl's python
Morelia bredli have long been one of Evan's favorite snakes.
Native to central Australia, they are sometimes called centrillian carpet
pythons and were once considered a sub-species of M. spilota. They
are somewhat arboreal and will utilize branches or dowels in their housing
if offered. They go through a color change within their first two years
of life from a drab dark brown as hatchlings to a beautiful brick red
with cream colored bands as adults. They can grow to lengths of 8 ft or
more and can be quite heavy bodied for a Morelia species, though this
may be due to overfeeding in captivity.
