Black Lotus Reptiles is co-owned by Evan Jamison and Darin Hurdman. They
are long time friends with many common interests, including snakes. Upon
receiving our first visual morph, we were both blown away by the beauty
of these amazing animals, and both knew we had to have more. We had our
first clutch of ball pythons hatch in May of 2005, and expect many more
this coming season. There is nothing quite as exciting as watching snakes
emerge from the egg.
Evan, like many herpers, fell in love with snakes as a young boy catching native
snakes around his home in the Wasatch Mountains of northern Utah. Now
all grown up, he was able to spend two years in Thailand where his love
for snakes resurfaced after keeping many native Thai serpents. He has
a BS in zoology and has worked professionally in the zoological field
since 2003. Previously working at Utah's Hogle Zoo where his charges were
mainly reptiles and birds, he now works as an aquarist at The Living Planet
Aquarium in Salt Lake City Utah, where he cares for everything from sharks
and octopi to birds and snakes. With many years of experience in keeping
a variety of snakes (among other things), Evan heads up the husbandry
and breeding of our collection.
